| History: | The roots of this nation can be found during the russian colonization of Siberia, between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The colonies were entrusted to a government formed by families chosen by the Tsar, but these had very limited power, because of their main purpose being that of spokespersons for the motherland. During the eighteenth century, as the American Revolution unfolded, the ruling families of the Far East began to embrace the idea of independence from the Empire, in order to gain greater economic and political power, abandoning the status of colonies. Thus, taking advantage of a current economic crisis in Russia, the Khabarovsk Governorate was created, so called because its capital was the city of the same name in the Amur region. Because of the crisis, the imperial forces weren't employed in large numbers and after a brief war, the Tsar finally recognized the once colonies as an autonomous federation: the United Colonies of the Far East. Shortly after independece, the vast Qing Dynasty's China started seeing its new neighbour as a threat: the people from Manchuria started protesting, seeking to join the Colonies, in order to gain freedom from the oppressive and authoritarian regime. The chinese forces tried to besiege Khabarovsk but got decimated in a bloody battle with the Colonies, allowing the locals to revolt in the absence of the army: after a couple years, Manchuria successfully became a state within the Federation. The last step of the rise happened when the coasts of the ex-russian colony of Alaska joined the now renamed "United Colonies of Orbis", since it was no longer limited to the Siberian Far East, and to highlight this, the capital was moved to the port city of Vladivostok. The fall of the Black Union, of which the Colonies were a part, soon brought an end to their rise: the Federation was devastated and occupied by foreign forces and remained so for several years. Only after a further period of global tension did the inhabitants of the territory and veterans fight again to regain the land promised to them, quickly liberating Amur, Chukotka, Kamchatka and Sakhalin, with Khabarovsk as its center once again. |
