| History: | The Diluvian peoples migrated from Southern Europe to the Baltic region, settling in areas later named Upper Diluvia and Lower Diluvia. Among these settlers, the Upper Diluvian cousins Manuel and Luc founded the Kingdom of Malu, uniting both regions with Averin ("Aversa" in Proto-Maluian) as its capital. Manuel's reign ended tragically in a war against Mikal the Great and its clan, leaving Luc as the only ruler of the kingdom for the rest of his life. After Luc's death, the kingdom descended into chaos under the tyranny of Queen Antona, once Mikal's lover, whose oppressive rule sparked a prolonged period of division and unrest. This era of strife continued even after her death, when, coming from Lower Diluvia, the looter clan of King Keik imposed itself among the region and making Villa the main center of it. Order only returned when Keik was overthrown by the legendary hero Diren, who, alongside Luc III, restored the kingdom's former borders. The New Kingdom of Malu emerged, with its capital at Antonople ("Antonella" in Proto-Maluian), headquarter of the Maluian rebellion and Diren's hometown. Under this renewed monarchy, Malu expanded its influence by establishing colonies. The colony of Giugiamaris was founded first, followed by Indopolis after a protracted conflict with the Indo Clan, originally from a region bordering Diluvia. However, not all Maluians supported the rigid hierarchical structure of the kingdom. Dissidents fled and founded the socialist city-state of Sandopolis, which quickly grew into a prosperous commercial port. Sandopolis allied with the Indos, earning the ire of the Maluian aristocracy, who viewed its citizens as traitors. Before hostilities could erupt, the New Kingdom of Malu faced internal collapse. Already in a climate of demographic and economic crisis, widespread riots erupted as citizens protested the monarchy's resistance to democratic reforms. The kingdom fractured once more, with its territories divided among neighboring powers and independent city-states. Amid this turmoil, the sando-maluian Chairman Barone, governor of Antonople, inspired by Sandopolis' socialist ideals, brought back the feeling of unity among the inhabitants of the post-maluian lands. He proclaimed the People's Diluvian Republic of Maluania, re-establishing a proper diluvian state and ushering in a new era of unity and progress. |
